Crave Organization? Consider Closet Systems with Style

Picture
Cabinets by Horizon offers 15% discount for in stock Difasa Closet Systems in May and June, 2013

Spring cleaning and organizing is a great way to de-clutter and straighten up your closets, your pantry, your laundry room—any area that tends to be an unintended ‘collection’ zone. But, what if all that effort only gives you so much gratification?  Eddie Casanave of Cabinets by Horizon is offering another option—a component system to facilitate organization while adding visual appeal. This spring, 2013 Cabinets By Horizon is offering a 15 percent discount on closet systems from Spanish manufacturer, Difasa.

Simply upgrading to a larger home with more space, storage or otherwise, isn’t really an option for most Americans. In early 2009, the American Housing Survey, revealed the average number of years a homeowner stays in their home at 12. Additional data collected, which includes the recession, reveals homeowners now staying between 13-16 years on average.

Creating storage spaces that facilitate organization, such as the options from Aereo, might change your perspective when it comes to traditional storage options. “Homeowners are using their existing space more wisely,” said Eddie Casanave of Cabinets by Horizon.  Eddie’s engineering training helps him find solutions for problems. His 25 years in business gives him the experience to design, plan and utilize space to maximize function, based on incorporating the clients’ need for the space.

Casanave is adept at creating custom options  to meet client specifications, but as an additional incentive, clients can take advantage of a 15% discount off in stock items in May and June. Difasa’s high quality contemporary systems with engraved melamines, wood veneers and lacquered finishes fit a variety of tastes and needs alike.  Wall units can be custom designed to fit home offices, walk-in closets, laundry rooms and more.
Select options are available on a limited basis, but Eddie wants client to know, “I can custom build just about anything that clients can dream up,” he said. MacGregor Downs and Cabinets by Horizon Pair To Create
a Haven For Wine

Picture
Each area of the club – golf, tennis, dining, and swimming – is designed to exude history, heritage and tradition.
The members of MacGregor Downs now have a new way to personalize their experience at the elegant and personal club on the shores of Lake MacGregor in Cary.  Members of the Downs’ wine club are welcome to lease a custom-made wine locker complete with their name plate engraved on the front.  These lockers, installed by Cabinets By Horizon, hold up to 12 bottles of wine each, and are a work of art, in their own right. They’re functional yet beautiful. But most importantly, they have helped the club appeal to members in a whole new way. The lockers and the wine club have helped the club increase wine club revenue more than 150 percent in just a year.

Joseph Nowell, Food and Beverage Director, led the capital project for the club. Having been in the hospitality industry for his entire career, he had witnessed success with this wine locker lease concept previously. But he needed the perfect contractor to help fulfill his vision.
As is the way many of Eddie Casanave’s projects begin, Nowell received a referral, and picked up the phone. Cabinets by Horizon (CBH) serves builders, remodelers and designers with custom and pre-made cabinets, closets, vanities and wine storage systems
A year ago there were 23 memberships (46 people) within the wine club, which hosts a monthly tasting. Only the MacGregor Downs’ wine club members are able to lease one of the 60 lockers, efficiently situated in the hall between dining rooms. Currently, there are 52 wine club members and all but 19 lockers have been claimed since they were completed in early February.

Nowell appreciated how the actual demolition and renovation were clean and tidy. “We literally went from having a wall in this space, to having these beautiful lockers,” he said. During the renovation Casanave set up a table near the renovation with a display sample of the locker on it so that members could see what was coming.

Wine locker members may bring in their own wine from outside the club, but this fact doesn’t seem to worry Joseph Nowell, Food and Beverage Manager. Nowell’s thought process is that even though members can bring in their own wine, and they often do; they also can choose to purchase it through the club, at a discount.

The wine lockers are made of Sapele Mahogany and the dimensions of each are 14” W x 16” L.

Joseph Nowell credits Cabinets By Horizon with creating a wine storage system that is a ‘natural fit’ for the club.
Nowell says that wine club members have a new way to network with friends and that also share a love of wine. “Patrons now have an opportunity to store wine where they eat,” said Nowell.  Logically speaking, he hopes that by storing more wine at the club, they will inherently, dine more at the club.

Nowell is already thinking about the next project, possibly a wine bar. “Eddie will be the first person I call,” said Nowell.

Community: Press Release

The 12th Annual Remodelers Home Tour, in April of 2012, sponsored by the Remodelers Council of the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County is a free, self-guided tour showcasing recent examples of how renovations can transform living space. Attendees can tour up to 20 different homes to learn the newest trends in the industry and often talk with the contractors and homeowners themselves.  Homes on tour include projects ranging from kitchen and bath remodels to whole house renovations, completed within varying budgets.

Eddie Casanave, president of the Remodelers Council  helped organize the tour which included projects completed by contractors who are all members of the Council. "The level of complexity of projects in this year's tour showcase the craftsmanship and talent that exists in Wake County," said Casanave. "We see more and more clients asking to optimize their existing space which allows for creativity and innovation of our members," he said.

Casanave's own Distinctive Remodeling, LLC, helped renovate house number 15 on the tour directory, which is located on 119 Hudson Street in Raleigh. Cabinets By Horizon provided the custom cabinetry used throughout the kitchen, including blah, blah, blah. Any other CBH projects within this home?
This home inside-the-beltline features a new master suite, a spacious living room, a covered porch nestled in the trees, as well as a basement garage.

Community: Great Sense of Pride

Picture
In 1993, Eddie Casanave went to the president of the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County and told him he wanted to start up a local Remodelers Council.  All he said was "OK, go ahead".  With 4 other remodelers, the Remodelers Council became an active group. The focus is educating consumers, improving professionalism, recognizing the great work that members do, and embarking upon community service projects.

In 2011, council members rallied to complete a whole house renovation project (in eleven days) for Rachelle Friedman and Chris Chapman. CHB provided the master bath cabinetry for Rachelle and Chris. For more coverage see this youtube video from the "Today Show." You can also download an article featured in the Raleigh News and Observer.  More coverage of the whole project aired on "George To The Rescue" show on NBC April 2nd, 2012.

The talent, generosity and compassion of the Council is outstanding.  As a founding member, Casanave feels a huge sense of pride due to the great work of the Remodelers Council .

A Worthy Upgrade: HBA Remodelers Council enhances kitchen at Raleigh shelter by Lara P. Wilson

Picture
The Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County is committed to various charity and community service events as a way to support homeownership. So when the opportunity arose for the organization’s Remodelers Council to contribute to a worthy cause — upgrading the kitchen at the New Bern House, part of the Helping Hand Mission — the choice was an easy one.

The New Bern House is a 9,200-square-foot transitional home and food shelter that serves an average of 100 to 300 meals per day to both its residents and those hurt by economic conditions. Time and years had left its kitchen with holes in the floors and walls, minimal working appliances, limited storage, and an uncomfortable work space. So last fall, the council gave the mission house a significant kitchen upgrade.

“The New Bern House provides a family with stability during times of uncertain transition,” says Nathan “Doc” Harley, Ph.D., assistant director of Helping Hand Mission. “We can house up to 65 residents, where most are small families, so the kitchen plays a vital role in this facility both for our residents and the homeless, who we also serve.” CHB installed new countertops for the New Bern house main kitchen.
